Peak District weekend


During these weekends, experienced leaders will accompany all groups. No previous experience of any activity is necessary. All activities will be tailored to suit the capabilities of participants, and it is hoped that even experienced people will find new challenges to be enjoyed. Planned activities will include climbing, abseiling, and walking. Other options may include cycling, (to be decided during the weekend). The charge for the weekend includes accommodation, travel, meals (except those purchased on the journeys) and all activities except cycle hire (see note 7 below).

Orchard Farm is situated on the edge of the Peak District. The farmhouse has been converted to provide bunkhouse-style sleeping accommodation for up to 60 people in large dormitories equipped with bunks and mattresses, a well equipped kitchen and large dining hall. There is also a recently refurbished shower and toilet block. You should bring your own sleeping bag (and a pillow if you require one). There are no resident staff at Orchard Farm. One of our staff will cook for the entire group, but everybody will be invited to contribute to the communal housekeeping chores (mainly washing up, and cleaning the house before our departure)

2. Smoking is not permitted in Orchard Farm.

3. The group will leave from the Adventure Club base in Higgins Walk, Stevenage SG1 4YP (see location map) at 7.00pm on Friday evening. You should be at the Adventure Club base by 6.15pm so that.your luggage can be loaded onto the minibus roof. Cars may be parked for the weekend at our base in Stevenage. Click here for location map


4. We plan to arrive back in Stevenage between 8 and 9pm on Sunday evening.

5. The minibus will stop en route on both Friday and Sunday evening so that individuals may purchase meals.

6. Basic equipment recommended for your safety and comfort:

Waterproof jacket and trousers
Sleeping bag
Walking boots
Torch and spare batteries
Woollen socks
Towel
Warm trousers (not jeans)
Warm sweater
Trainers
Anorak or windproof jacket
Soap, toothbrush, etc.
Rucsac
Tea towel
Unbreakable container for drinks
A few plasters
Camera (optional)
Woollen hat and gloves or mittens
Plus a complete change of clothes

7. Members may choose to go cycling during the weekend. There is an extra charge for this activity, which must be paid directly to the cycle hire shop in the Peak District.
